Derrick L. Botkins, Lacey E. Harold, Cindy D. Markum, and Sara J. Markum were recently named recipients of an HCA Foundation Scholarship. Each of the recipients has a parent employed by Alleghany Regional Hospital, an affiliate of HCA Healthcare Inc.
Botkins, a 2003 graduate of Alleghany High School is currently a sophomore at Roanoke College in Salem majoring in chemistry, was named to the Presidents list at Roanoke. He is the son of Wayne and Lisa Botkins of Covington.
Harold, also a 2003 graduate of Alleghany High School, is currently a sophomore at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia. She is a mathematics major. In addition to her studies, Harold plays intramural flag football and indoor soccer. She was named to the National Deans List, the Bridgewater Deans List, and a recipient of the All-American Scholar Award. She is the daughter of Teresa Harold of Clifton Forge.
Cindy Markum is a sophomore at Concord College in Athens, West Virginia where she majoring in Elementary Education. She is involved with the Concord Dance Ensemble and the Honor Society. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Patricia Markum of White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Sara Markum is a junior at Concord College in Athens, West Virginia where she majoring in Secondary Education. She is also involved with the Concord Dance Ensemble and the Honor Society. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Patricia Markum of White Sulphur Springs, WV.
The HCA Foundation Scholarship Program is offered annually and provides educational assistance to the children of employees at HCA-affiliated facilities. Recipients are selected competitively based on academic records and personal achievements and must be enrolled at accredited colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools. This year, The HCA Foundation recognized approximately 600 scholarship winners with awards totaling more than $500,000. |
